The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) offers a range of officer trades for individuals seeking leadership roles in a challenging and rewarding career. Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Leadership: Command and lead teams in various operations and missions. 
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to achieve mission objectives. 
  • Operations Management: Oversee the efficient and effective operation of naval systems and personnel. 
  • Technical Expertise: Provide specialized knowledge in engineering, combat systems, logistics, and warfare. 
  • Training and Development: Mentor and train personnel to enhance their skills and careers. 

 

Available Officer Trades: 

 

Marine Systems Engineering Officer: Oversee the operation and maintenance of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, and shipboard electrical systems. 

Naval Combat Systems Engineering Officer: Manage the maintenance and operation of combat systems, including weapons, sensors, and command and control systems. 

Naval Warfare Officer: Lead the planning and execution of naval missions, including navigation, tactical maneuvers, and the coordination of shipboard operations. 

Logistics Officer: Manage the logistics support required to maintain naval operations, including supply chain management, transportation, and resource allocation. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Must be at least 18 years old. 
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident 
  • A university degree is required. Specific trades may require degrees in engineering, logistics, or related fields. 
  • Meet the RCN's medical and physical fitness standards. 
  • Exhibit strong moral character, leadership skills, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
